REGISTRATION SUNDAY - 2nd SEPTEMBER 2007

Check out the Web site >>> www.shrewsburyrugbyclub.com

Training starts Sunday 2nd September 2007 at 10.30am.

Sunday training starts at 10.30am and goes on until 12 noon. Many teams now have midweek training as well. Check with the website or your coach to find out if your team has training during the week. Always arrive on time for training.

Everybody who wants to play rugby for Shrewsbury Juniors has to be registered with the RFU.
Most of you are registered. If you registered with the RFU last season, you do not need to do it again. If you did not register then you must do it this time.
If you are not registered then there will be an RFU registration form sent out to you with your Newsletter. Fill it in, sign it, get your photo taken and bring the form with you on Registration Sunday.
All forms must be fully filled in, all questions must be answered so that I can read them and on the RFU Registration Form the player must sign as well as the parent/carer. This is very important so please do not forget.

Everybody who wants to play rugby for Shrewsbury Juniors has to pay their subscriptions.
Subscriptions are:
For one member - £30.00

For an additional brother or sister -£10.00

Social membership for the whole family -£50.00

If you are paying by cheque then your cheque must be made payable to SRUFC Ltd.

Everybody who wants to play rugby for Shrewsbury Juniors has to be registered with the Club.
Even if you registered last season, you must register again this season. Inside the Newsletter you will find a Club registration form. Use it! Fill it out so that we can read it and then bring it with you on Registration Sunday.
Checklist for Registration Sunday. Please bring with you:
Club Registration Form
Subscription
RFU Registration Form (if needed) including one passport sized photo.

FIXTURES 2007

Inside the Newsletter you will find the fixture list for 2007. As we now have 12 teams in the Junior Section you can expect to play twice as many away games than home games, as we can only normally accommodate four teams at home on any Sunday.

The fixture list will be subject to change from time to time over the season. Always check with your coach or on the website to find out if a fixture is on or not. Do not wait for your coach to tell you.

Club Notices:

1. No boots inside the Club. This rule will be strictly enforced to keep the Club looking as nice as possible for as long as possible. Please make sure you don't break the rules.

2. Shrewsbury Rugby Club is a no smoking club. Please abide by the rule. You will be asked to leave the club house if you are caught smoking. The rule applies to the whole club.

3. Use the players' entrance. All players will still need to use the rear players' entrance when coming off the pitches after training or playing

PLAY SAFE - BE SAFE

Shrewsbury Rugby Club is dedicated to ensuring that all players are safe when they play rugby for this Club. That is why we have a Child Protection statement and Codes of Conduct. The Codes of Conduct cover players, referees, coaches and parents. As a Club we will make sure that these Codes of Conduct are strictly followed. We have a Disciplinary Code to ensure this is the case. A full copy of the Codes is included with this Newsletter. Make sure that you read them and are aware of your responsibilities.

Everyone should be aware that we will not tolerate verbal abuse on the touchline during training or games. Any person considered to be breaking this part of the Code will be asked to remove themselves from the touchline.

All Codes of Conduct, our Child Protection statement, our Equity statement and the Disciplinary Code can be found on the main Club notice board in the Clubhouse, which is situated on the right wall of the players' entrance. Please make sure you are familiar with these documents.
To be safe while they are playing and training all players should wear the proper kit. This should consist of rugby or football boots, cotton shorts (preferably proper rugby shorts) or track suit bottoms and a suitable top or tops.

If it is cold then extra layers of clothing are essential and this could mean extra layers, waterproof, hats and/or gloves.

The safety of all our players is very important to us and so we recommend that all players wear gum shields and shin pads. Head guards are an optional extra, but are recommended by the Club too. No jewellery should be worn and finger nails should always be cut short.

All players should have rugby studs on their boots. The only sort of boot that is allowed that does not use studs is one that has rubber blades. Plastic blades are banned. Rugby studs, which must be kite marked, are available at all sports shops and we even have them at the Club that you can buy. Football boots have studs that can be unscrewed and rugby studs can be screwed in to replace them.
If you are unsure about your boots ask your coach. You must have the right studs to play rugby.

How can you help?
As a parent you can be prepared to drive your child and possibly others to away fixtures. Don't rely on others to do this for your child.

When games are played at home you can help with preparing or serving food. Always take your turn in helping out in the kitchen.

You could volunteer for an organisational role in the Junior Section. We always need help with paperwork, telephone calls and general administration.

Watch you child play games. All kids love to have their parents watch them play.

Don't be a stranger on match day

An Invite to all Dads
Why not join us in the Club house for a coffee and bacon bap and a chat, without the kids?
Sunday 16th September 2007 has been set aside for Dad's Day at the Club and you are all invited to join us in the bar area for an informal get together.
See you there!

TERRY SAYS …
"We need you…
Mini and Junior numbers are increasing. With the Rugby World Cup about to start, interest in rugby will increase and the number of youngsters at the club on Sunday mornings will grow.
Parents we need you!!
If you turn up on a Sunday morning to watch your child then step off the touchline and help. That's how most of us started. We need coaches and helpers. The only experience you need is an ability to wear trainers and a track suit. If you would like to speak to me then call me on 01743 884495 or email on rugby@lowrieherz.fsnet.co.uk "
